Abstract
Background: Incidence rate (incidence) of diaper rash is different in each country, depending on hygiene, parents or caregivers’ knowledge about the way how to use diapers. The rate in Indonesia reaches 7-35%, afflicts boys and girls under three years old. About 10-20% of infants and toddlers in the area of Jatijajar get diaper rash. Based on the Journal of Pediatrics there were 54% of 1 month-old babies diaper having diaper rash after wearing disposable diapers. According to the Journal of Nursing (Cahyati, Dwi at al., 2015) one of the natural processed materials that can be used to care the skin of an infant with diaper rash. VCO (virgin coconut oil) is then used to prevent diaper rash. Objective:In general to conduct the care for infants and toddlers who potentially have diaper rash. But the specific objective is to do that kind of care for“S”,a10 month-infant in private midwifery clinic of Midwife Aning Frianti P at Jatijajar, Ayah, Kebumen. Method: This scientific writing uses descriptive qualitative method with case study approach. The tools used to collect data are stationery, observation sheets, camera, leaflets and VCO. The collecting data was done through interviews, observation and documentation. The data processing wasdone through reduction, presentation and conclusion. Results:TheVCO therapy of infant S, 10 months old was conducted in 1 month.It was done gradually. After having the therapy in the first 5-6 days, the symptoms of diaper rash disappeared. But there were no more symptoms of diaper rash in the next therapy. The infant was not fussy and was still able to move on. Conclusion: VCO (virgin coconut oil) is less effective in preventing diaper rash.
