Abstract

Background, diarrhea is loss of fluids and electrolytes with loose stools, more than 3 days without blood or mucus. This is due to the lack of knowledge about diarrhea in toddlers so that it can affect the practice of mothers in handling diarrhea. Objective, knowing the knowledge and attitudes of mothers in handling diarrhea in toddlers in the Working Area of the Petanahan Health Center. Methode, quantitative descriptive using a cross-sectional approach. The number of samples were 105 people and selected by "porposive sampling". The instrument used a questionnaire using an ordinal scale. Result, Mother's knowledge about handling diarrhea in children under five is mostly knowledgeable, amounting to 48 respondents (45.7%). The mother's attitude about handling diarrhea in toddlers was partially negative, amounting to 58 respondents (55.2%). Conclusion, the better the mother's knowledge and attitude in handling diarrhea, the better the handling of toddlers with diarrhea will be. Recommendation, expected to re-examine the attitude of mothers in handling diarrhea in toddlers.
