Abstract

Background: Self-efficacy in Diabetes Mellitus patients is very important in the success of treatment. Family empowerment is one of the efforts. DM care that involves the family because the family is seen as an important element in DM treatment Objective: to determine the effect of family empowerment on self-efficacy of Diabetes Mellitus patients in Poncowarno Research method: this research is Quasy Experiment. Samples were taken with a Consecutive sampling technique of 44 people. The sample was divided into two groups, namely the intervention group of 22 people and the control group of 22 people. Data analysis using t test. The instrument used is a self-efficacy questionnaire that has been tested for validity and reliability Results: The average score of self-efficacy before family empowerment in the intervention group was 24.45 and the control group was 24.50. The average score of self-efficacy before the action in the intervention group was 47.82 and the control group was 24.41. There was no significant difference in the pre-test and post-test self-efficacy scores of the control group (p=0.925). There was a significant difference in the pre-test and post-test self-efficacy scores of the intervention group (p=0.000) and there was a significant difference in selfefficacy after the action between the control group and the intervention group (p=0.000) Conclusion: there is an effect of family empowerment with self-efficacy of diabetes mellitus patients in Poncowarno Recommendation: Family empowerment program needs to be promoted in every Health Center Care
