Abstract

Background: In Indonesia, rhinitis ranks 2nd of all diseases (WHO, 2019). Based on epidemiological studies, the prevalence of allergic rhinitis in Indonesia is estimated to range from 10 - 20% and is constantly increasing. Rhinitis that is not treated immediately has an impact on the health of the sufferer, resulting in a decrease in the patient's quality of life, decreased work productivity, achievement in school and social activities. Objective: to analyze the relationship between factors and the incidence of rhinitis in the ENT Poly Hospital of PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong. Method: This research is using quantitative analytics with a cross-sectional approach. A sample of 56 allergic rhinitis patients was taken by accidental sampling technique. Results: The highest percentage of respondents who experienced the incidence of rhinitis aged 26-35 years and 17-25 years were 16 people (28.6%), female sex was 20 people (35.7%). There is a relationship between age (p-value 0.010), genetic factors (p-value 0.011), allergen exposure factors (p-value 0.004), environmental factors (p-value 0.009), air temperature (p-value 0.047) with the incidence of rhinitis and there is no sexual relationship. with the incidence of rhinitis in the ENT clinic of PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital with a p-value of 0.128. Conclusion: The factors that influence the incidence of allergic rhinitis include age, genetic factors, exposure to allergens, environment, and air temperature, while gender has no effect on the incidence of allergic rhinitis. Recommendation: This study is expected to be an evaluation material for hospitals to improve services for rhinitis patients by paying more attention to the factors that influence it.
