Abstract
Background: The number of babies with low birth weight which is quite large and susceptible to impaired vital functions that can affect the growth and development of babies requires proper handling. The use of nesting is one of the recommended treatments for LBW. The Aim of The Research: This study aims to determine the effect of nesting on physiological changes (body temperature, respiratory rate, pulse rate, and oxygen saturation) in low birth weight infants in the Peristi Room of RSUD Dr. Sudirman, Kebumen. Research Methods: This study is a quantitative study using a pre-experimental design method of one group pretest-posttest type (single group initial test-posttest). Research Results: The results showed that based on the Paired Sample T-Test on the research data, the p-value value for body temperature was 0.000, the p-value was 0.208, the p-value was 0.208. p-value pulse rate of 0.956, and the value of p-value oxygen saturation of 0.047. Conclusion: The conclusion of this study is that there is an effect of nesting on body temperature and oxygen saturation in LBW. There is no significant effect of nesting on the pulse rate and respiratory rate of LBW. Recommendation: It is recommended for further researchers to explore other variables such as the effect of nesting on changes in body weight, sucking reflex and cortisol hormone by using different research designs and tests and using a larger number of samples.
