Abstract

Background: The prevalence of stroke cases at PKU Muhammadiyah Sruweng Hospital in 2020 was the 3rd highest case of 10 disease diagnoses in the inpatient room. Stroke treatment must be done quickly and precisely because if it is not treated immediately, the severity of the stroke will be higher, and the risk of disability will get worse. To treat stroke, comprehensive treatment is needed, one of which is by using 30° head elevation. Objective: to analyze the effect of the 30° head-up position on increasing oxygen saturation in hemorrhagic stroke patients at PKU Muhammadiyah Sruweng Hospital. Methods: This study used a quasi-experimental, with a pretest-posttest with control group design. A sample of 32 stroke patients were divided into 16 treatment groups and 16 control groups. Samples were taken by consecutive sampling technique. Results: The characteristics of respondents in the control group and the intervention group are mostly aged 56-65 years and are male. The oxygen saturation in hemorrhagic stroke patients before being given a position was mostly 96 and 97 as many as 5 people (31.2%), and after being given a head up position of 30° most of the respondents had oxygen saturation of 98 and 99 respectively as many as 6 people (37.5%). Conclusion : There is an effect of 30° head up position on increasing oxygenation saturation in hemorrhagic stroke patients at PKU Muhammadiyah Sruweng Hospital with p value = 0.000. Recommendation: The results of this study become input for hospitals in policy by making SAK for stroke patient care in hospitals.
