Abstract

Background: Bronchopneumonia is an inflammation of the lung parenchyma that extends to the bronchioles by direct spread through the respiratory tract. Symptoms that can cause several nursing problems, such as hyperthermia or fever, can be a lack of fluids or dehydration. A nursing implementation can reduce body temperature with nonpharmacological therapy, namely water tepid sponges. Objective: To give nursing care for bronchopneumonia patients with hyperthermia at Arumbinang Room in RSUD dr. Sudirman of Kebumen District. Methods: This study used a descriptive case study design with a cross-sectional approach. These subjects were five pediatric patients with bronchopneumonia who were experiencing hyperthermia problems. Data collection used observation, interview, and documentation sheets. Results: There was a decrease in respondents' body temperature after giving a tepid water sponge. Conclusion: Bronchopneumonia patients with hyperthermia after getting tepid water sponge happened decreased body temperature.
