Abstract

Background: Typhoid fever is an acute systemic infectious disease caused by Salmonella typhi bacteria, with signs of fever for more than one week, chills, headache or dizziness, and gastrointestinal disturbances. Purpose: The purpose of the study was to explain nursing care by giving tepid water sponge compress therapy for typhoid patients with hyperthermia nursing problems in the Inayah Room at PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital. Method: This final paper uses a case study approach with descriptive method. The instruments used were observation sheets an shallot compresses. Subjects consisted of 5 typhoid with the main problem of hyperthermia. The results of the analysis : the nursing problem taken by the author is hyperthermia. After nursing actions for 3 x 24 hours in the Inayah Room of the PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital, it was found that the administration of tepid water sponge compress therapy reduce fever in typhoid patients. Recommendations: The results of this nursing care can be used as a reference for the preparation of Standard Operating Procedures for reduce fever in typhoid patients.
