Abstract

Background: Chronic kidney failure is a kidney disease characterized by abnormalities in kidney structure or function that lasts for more than 3 months. Psychosocial effects of hemodialysis include depression, disease denial, anxiety, low self-esteem, social isolation, and negative perception of body/body image. Anxiety is the most common group of mental disorder and is an effect of mental affective disorders. Objective: The general purpose of writing this scientific paper is to describe nursing care by providing deep breathing therapy and five finger hypnosis in chronic kidney failure patients undergoing hemodialysis with anxiety nursing problems. Results: The results of the nursing evaluation in the five patients showed that there was a decrease in the level of anxiety as evidenced by changes in the HADS score between before and after being given therapy for 2 meetings. Four patients experienced a decrease from moderate to mild, and one patient from mild to normal. Conclusion: Giving deep breath relaxation therapy and five finger hypnosis can reduce anxiety in chronic kidney failure patients undergoing hemodialysis. Recommendation: It is hoped that it can enrich knowledge in independent nursing actions with collaboration to carry out nursing care, especially complementary therapies and can be used as a resource of learning or applied in hospitals.
