Abstract
Background: Situational low self-esteem of patients with diabetes mellitus ulcers is a psychological problem that must be addressed immediately, because if it is not immediately addressed, it is feared that it will become a more serious psychiatric disorder. Dhikr spiritual therapy is an implementation that can be applied to clients with situational low self-esteem, where the therapy is expected to reduce the symptoms of situational low self-esteem, increase self-esteem and also the ability of clients so that problems can be resolved. Objective: To explain nursing care of clients with situational low self-esteem using spiritual healing dhikr with diabetes mellitus ulcers in PKU Muhammadiyah Hospital of Gombong. Methods: The method used in this case study was descriptive method with case study approach to five patients with diabetes mellitus ulcers. Positive ability exercises and spiritual healing dhikr are carried out twice a day for 3 days with duration of 30 minutes. The instruments used in this case study consist of the Self Esteem Rosenberg measurement instrument, the spiritual assessment instrument, the SOP for the spiritual healing of dhikr, the observation sheet for the symptoms of situational low self-esteem, the observation sheet for the ability to perform general nursing treatment and also the observation sheet for the ability to dhikr spiritual therapy. Results: After 3 days of nursing intervention, it was found that the nursing treatment provided were effectively applied to clients with situational low self-esteem. This is evidenced by decrease of the symptoms of situational low self-esteem ofpatients II (38.7%), increase of self-esteem (42.5%), increase of the ability to perform general therapy (100%), and increase of the ability to perform spiritual therapy dhikr (80.0%). Conclusion: It can be concluded that the provision of general nursing treatment and effective dhikr spiritual therapy is given to patients who experience self-concept disorders: situational low self-esteemcharacterized by decrease of symptoms of situational low self-esteem, there is increase of self-esteem and also increase of patients’ capabilities.
