Abstract

Background: Stroke is a permanent neurological disorder due to disruption of blood circulation in the brain, which occurs for about 24 hours or more. Specific symptoms in stroke patients are motor loss such as hemiplegia, hemiparesis, and decreased muscle strength. Physical mobility barriers are a problem for a stroke patient, and they have limitations in the physical movement in one or more extremities. Non-pharmacological therapies can be given to stroke patients, such as Range of Motion Cylindrical Grip. Range of Motion (ROM) is an exercise performed to maintain or improve the muscle's ability. Objective: To analyze the nursing care for stroke patients who have physical mobility barriers. Result: Five-stroke patients with nursing problems with physical mobility barriers were given a range of motion for three days; two patients (40%) had increased muscle strength, but three respondents (60%) had not experienced an increase in muscle strength. Recommendation: Future researchers are expected to examine the use of Range of Motion Cylindrical Grip therapy to increase muscle strength in stroke patients for a more extended period.
