Abstract

Background: Kidney disease is one of the leading causes of death and disability in most countries around the world. Hemodialysis is one of the most preferred renal replacement therapies by patients with chronic kidney failure who have entered the terminal phase. Anxiety is one of the main psychological cases that often arise in patients with CKD undergoing hemodialysis. Purpose: This case study aims to explain nursing care in CKD patients with anxiety through a combination of individual generalist therapy and humor therapy in the hemodialysis room of Majenang Hospital. Method: This scientific work uses a descriptive method with a case study approach on 5 CKD patients who experience anxiety. Measurement of anxiety using the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS) instrument. The nursing care process was carried out for three meetings with the provision of generalist therapy twice and humor therapy once. Each therapy is given 15 -20 minutes.. Result: Shows a decrease in signs and symptoms of anxiety an average of 26.9%. The highest decrease occurred in client I from moderate anxiety level (score 24) to mild anxiety (score 16) and client V from moderate anxiety level (score 21) to mild anxiety (score 14). All clients (100%) experienced an increase in their ability to perform generalist therapy from 1 to 2. Almost all (80%) experienced an increase in humor therapy from 1 to 2. Recommendation: A combination of generalist therapy and humor therapy can be used to treat the patient's anxiety.
