Abstract

Background:Congestive heart failure (CHF) is a condition in which the heart's function as a pump to deliver oxygen-rich blood to the body is not sufficient to meet the body's needs. Cardiac output is a major factor in circulation which has an important role in the transportation of blood containing various nutrients. Under normal conditions, the amount of blood pumped by the left and right ventricles is the same. Purpose:This case study aims to explain nursing care for Congestive Heart Failure patients with decreased cardiac output through the application of Slow Deep Breathing in the emergency room of Majenang Hospital. Method:This scientific work uses a descriptive method with a case study approach on 5 Congestive Heart Failure patients who experience decreased cardiac output. The nursing care process is carried out for 1 x 6 hours by giving Slow Deep Breathing therapy 1 time with the guidance of the author and then carried out independently. Each therapy is given 15 minutes. Result:Slow Deep Breathing therapy overcomes a decrease in cardiac output which is marked by a decrease in the respiratory frequency of CHF patients in the emergency room at the Majenang Hospital with an average decrease of 15.3%. Recommendation:Slow Deep Breathing therapy can be used to treat decreased cardiac output in patients with Congestive Heart Failure (CHF).
