Abstract

Background: Surgery is a treatment that opens or cuts skin and tissues by the surgeon can fully view the structures or organs involved. Surgery aims to heal what patient’s problem. On the other hand, it makes psychology and physiology anxious for patients. Purpose: to know the effect of emotional freedom technique to anxious levels of preoperative patients with femoral fracture. Method: This study was a descriptive case study. Five patients who will undergo open reduction internal fixation (ORIF) surgery were recruited as respondents o this study. They got the emotional freedom technique in preoperative care for fifty minutes before getting surgery and measured its anxiety levels. Result: There was a change in anxiety levels of respondents (average 25.2%) after getting the emotional freedom technique. Recommendation: The emotional freedom technique can be applied to decrease the anxiety levels of patients who will walk on surgery.
