Abstract
Background: Installation of emergency department (Indonesian=IGD) has a role as the main gate of emergency admissions. The state of emergency is a clinical state where the patient requires immediate medical action to save lives and further disability. IGD health workers attempt their best to save the patients live as soon as the patient admitted in the emergency room for treatment. Emergency care skills of health workers that includes knowledge and application of triage are needed in clinical decision making in order to avoid mistakes in sorting triage time so that the patient handling can be optimized and focused. Objective: To determine the knowledge and triage application by nurses at emergency room of dr. Soedirman State Hospital Kebumen Methods: This study used descriptive method with survey approach. Samples consisted of 25 nurses taken by using saturated sampling technique. Data were analyzed by using descriptive analysis. Results: the findings show that all nurses (100.0%) in the emergency room had good category of knowledge of triage. Most nurses (88.0%) had unfavorable category in the application of triage. Conclusion: all nurses or 100% in the Emergency Room of dr. Soedirman State Hospital Kebumen had good knowledge of triage but 80 % of them had not been very good in its application.
