Abstract

Background: The increase in DM is due to the increasing level of domestic prosperity involved in increasing regional income and a closed constitution with many changes in modern lifestyles, which lead to an increase in degenerative diseases. Diabetes mellitus that is not properly managed will result in chronic and acute complications. DM management is explained into four pillars, including: education, physical activity, diet, and also care. It takes a strong will so that the patient can carry out the four pillars for the management of DM. Willingness that has a relationship with factors that can affect the patient's own psychology. Objective: To determine the relationship between efficacy and dietary compliance in DM patients at Kroya 1 Health Center. Methods: This research is a descriptive research with a cross sectional study approach. The sample is 40 people with total sampling technique. Results: Respondents who had good self-efficacy were mostly obedient in carrying out a diet related to eating schedules as many as 23 people (57.5%), and respondents who had low self-efficacy were mostly non-compliant in dieting types of food as many as 7 respondents (17.5%). The test results using spearmean rank obtained p value = 0.009 with (p < 0.05) and r value = 0.409. Conclusion: There is a relationship between self-efficacy and dietary adherence to eating schedules in DM patients at the UPTD of the Kroya 1 Public Health Center, Kroya District, Cilacap Regency. Recommendation: This study is expected to be a reference evaluation material for UPTD Puskesmas Kroya 1 for material for the development of service programs for people with DM by taking into account the level of patient confidence in maintaining dietary compliance in terms of the amount, type of food and meal schedule.
