Abstract
Background: Health problems that are often suffered by middle-aged families are degenerative diseases such as hypertension, DM, cancer, gout, kidney failure, stroke, and others. In Kebumen Regency, data on elderly posyandu members were 18 out of 30 members who had blood pressure >140 mmHg. Therefore, it is necessary to have more knowledge in order to be able to recognize early and be aware of these health problems. Health education carried out in Sangubanyu Village, Buluspesantren District, was about the use of family medicinal plants (TOGA) as an effort to increase knowledge in recognizing degenerative diseases and how to overcame them using TOGA. Purpose: The scientific papers is to provided an overview of nursing care with health problems ineffective family health management in middle age with degenerative diseases. Methods: The scientific papers used to case study methods including descriptive analysis research. The instrument used is the patients as the main instrument and the flipchart as a supporting instrument. The subjects studied were three, namely the family of Mr. D , Mr. R, and Mr. A. Result: The implementation was in the form of health education. In the evaluation conducted for three family meetings, there was an increase in knowledge about disease and the use of TOGA to overcame disease and understanding of the duties and functions of the family in the health sector. Recommendation: Family Medicinal Plants can overcame degenerative diseases in middle age.
