Abstract

Background based on the number of elderly in Kebumen Regency of 167,743 (35%) of the total population. The problem that often occurs in the elderly was anxiety. Anxiety is a normal reaction when the elderly are experiencing stress. Anxiety that often occurs in the elderly is the loss of a partner, death. One of the handling of anxiety in the elderly is using gardening therapy. The purpose providing an overview of family nursing care at the stage of development of the elderly with anxiety using gardening therapy in Karang Joho Village, Sempor District. This scientific writing method used a descriptive method, with a case study approach. Data obtained through interviews, observation, and documentation. The subject of the case study was a family with an elderly developmental stage who experienced anxiety. The results of the case study based on the results of the assessment of the 3 families found that nursing problems were anxiety. The intervention and implementation was carried out by doing gardening therapy for 13 meetings. The results of the evaluation after doing gardening therapy for 13 meetings with 3 families showed that gardening therapy was able to reduce anxiety in the elderly. Gardening therapy Recommendations are an effective way to reduce anxiety in the elderly.
