Abstract

Background: This scientific paper is based on the data collected from various literature sources, which state that red ginger and honey complementary therapy is an alternative herbal therapy. This therapy can be used to treat ARI patients with airway clearance problems. Objective: To describe nursing care for airway clearance problems in children with ARI using red ginger and honey complementary therapy in Kedung Puji Village, Gombong District. Method: This paper is an analytical description using a case study method. Observation and interviews were used to collect data. The participants were 3 patients with ARI. Results: After 5 days of red ginger and honey complementary therapy, it was discovered that there was a reduction in the sound of crackles, normal breathing frequency, and patterns, as well as signs and symptoms that appeared in the three patients. Conclusion: Complementary therapy with red ginger and honey can help to ease breathing and smooth phlegm, making it easier to expel for pediatric patients with ARI. Recommendations: Patients are encouraged to continue complementary therapy with red ginger and honey on their own at home to help the respiratory system work smoothly, make it easier for phlegm to be excreted, and prevent symptoms from reappearing.
