Abstract

Background: Asthma is characterized by chronic inflammation of the airways involving various mediators and interrelated inflammatory cells resulting in physiological changes and airway structure. Asthma treatment aims to make asthma controllable. Controllable asthma is an asymptomatic state of asthma.A nursing care is then needed to overcome asthma, that is by applying breathing relaxation. This kind of relaxation has many techniques including applying a blowing ballon technique. Objective: To describe a nursing care for asthma patients with a diagnosis of ineffective breating pattern by applying blowing ballon therapy. Method: This scientific paper is an analytical descriptive with a case-study approach. The subjects of this study were 3 patients having asthma. Data were obtained from assessment, interview, and observation, Result:After having application of blowing ballon therapy, there was a change of respiration frequency of all patients with an average of 21-23x/menit having complaints of decreased shortbreath. Recommendation:Ballon blowing therapy is suggestable to be applied in the hospital or community to stabilize the respiratory rate of asthma patients.
