Abstract
Background : Problems at the stage of development of the elderly are very complex, especially when it comes to health problems, one of which is hypertension. Hypertension is a condition where systolic blood pressure exceeds the normal limit, which is more than 140 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure exceeds 90 mmHg. the prevalence of the population with hypertension in the province of Central Java is 37.57%. One of the efforts to prevent and improve the health of the elderly, it takes an important role from the family because the family is part of the support system for the health of each member of the family. Objective :Describing nursing care for the elderly family with ineffective health care in the elderly with hypertension. Method :This research uses a case study method. The data collection process used interview, observation, and physical examination techniques. Respondents in this study consisted of 3 families who have elderly with hypertension. Giving foot soak therapy with warm water and ginger was carried out for 6 days to solve the problem of ineffective health maintenance in the elderly with hypertension. Results: After nursing care for 10 x meetings with the problem of ineffective health care in the elderly with hypertension can be partially resolved through health education and the provision of foot bath therapy with warm water and ginger. Foot soak therapy with warm water and ginger was able to reduce the respondent's blood pressure from 180/100 mmHg, 170/90 mmHg, and 140/70 mmHg to 140/70 mmHg, 140/70 mmHg, and 120/70 mmHg. Conclusion :The problem of ineffective health maintenance through foot soak therapy with warm water and ginger can overcome the incidence of hypertension in the elderly.
