Abstract

Background: Upper respiratory tract infections typically present with nasal congestion and persistent discharge from the nose. Honey can be used to treat ARI. Honey contains antibiotic substances that are active against various disease-causing pathogens. Objective: to explain nursing care to ARI clients with ineffective airway clearance in RSUD dr. Sudirman Kebumen. Methods: The research method is descriptive with a case study approach. The case study subjects that will be studied are 5 ARI clients with ineffective airway clearance. The tools in this study were nursing care formats, Nursing Kits, observation sheets for signs and symptoms of ineffective airway clearance and SOPs for giving honey. Presentation of data that the author does by drawing conclusions based on subjective and objective data, which is presented in the documentation method and nursing care resume Results: The results of the assessment in the five patients had the same main complaints, namely coughing runny nose, phlegm, shortness of breath, fever. The fifth nursing diagnosis of the patient was ineffective airway clearance. Interventions that have been carried out on the five patients to overcome ineffective airway clearance are Airway management. The implementations that have been carried out on the five patients are auscultation of the breath, monitoring respiratory status and oxygenation, giving honey. The results of the evaluation after nursing actions were carried out on the five patients showed that there was a decrease in HR, RR, temperature after being given honey treatment to ARI clients with ineffective airway clearance. Giving honey is effective in reducing symptoms of ineffective airway clearance. . Recommendation: The results of this nursing care can be used as a reference for the preparation of SOPs for the management of ineffective airway clearance using honey
