Abstract
Background: Diarrhea is a preventable disease, but it is the second leading cause of death after pneumonia in children under five, which kills 525,000 children under five globally every year, with a total annual incidence of 1.7 billion. Nursing actions that can be carried out are giving honey. Objective: To describe the results of the analysis of nursing care in children with diarrhea by giving honey in the Fahrudin Room of PKU Muhammadiyah Sruweng Hospital Methods: This paper used a descriptive method with a case study approach. The case study instrument used a nursing documentation format, an observation sheet for recording diarrhea and SOPs for giving honey. Subjects consisted of 5 children with diarrhea. Nursing implementation was carried out in 2 days. The data were analyzed descriptively on nursing care. Results: The results of the case study showed that diarrhea nursing problems were resolved with indications (increased control of stool output, improved stool consistency, improved frequency of defecation, improved intestinal peristalsis). The five patients experienced an improvement in the consistency of defecation from liquid before the application of honey and improved consistency with discharge on the second day of application Recommendation: It is necessary to test the content of active compounds in honey that can affect the frequency and consistency of bowel movements in pediatric patients with diarrhea and it should be emphasized that the use of honey is only obtained for children under five years old to 5 years old.
