Abstract
Background: Sectio caesarea (SC) delivery is one of the surgical efforts, namely to give birth to a fetus or baby as incision in the abdominal wall and uterine wall. Invasive procedures in the form of sectio caesarea, can cause pain that results in a person's discomfort. Non- pharmacological therapy that can be given to treat pain is by giving bitter orange aromatherapy. Objective: Describe nursing care with the application of bitter orange aromatherapy to lower the scale of pain in post sectio caesarea patients. Method: This case study used a descriptive method. The subjects of the case study were conducted on 5 post SC patients who had problems with pain discomfort disorders and nursing procedures were performed for two days. The instruments used were numeric rating scale (NRS) observation sheets, nursing care formats and bitter orange aromatherapy. Results: Based on the results of case studies on the five subjects, the main nursing problem was acute pain. The intervention given for pain management is by giving bitter orange aromatherapy. After two days of nursing action, each case study subject's pain scale decreased to a scale of 2, one of which dropped to a scale of 3. Recommendation: Post SC patients are expected to be able to apply bitter orange aromatherapy to reduce the pain scale.
