Abstract

Background: Laparotomy is one of the abdominal surgery. In post-surgery (postsurgery) patients feel severe pain and 75% of patients have an unpleasant experience due to inadequate pain management. Pain management can be done with pharmacological and non-pharmacological techniques. One of the aromatherapy that can be used is lemon aromatherapy and to reduce pain intensity post-laparotomy patients can use a lemon aromatherapy humidifier. Objective: To provide nursing care in post laparatomy patients with acute pain nursing problems using the lemon aromatherapy humidifier method in the Lotus Room of Prof dr Margono Soekarjo Purwokerto Hospital. Methods: Using a descriptive method with a case study approach. The case study subjects that will be studied are 5 post-laparotomy patients. The tools in this study were the nursing care format, the Nursing Kit, the SOP for the lemon aromatherapy humidifier, and the acute pain symptom assessment format. Presentation of data that the author does by drawing conclusions based on subjective and objective data, which is presented in the documentation method and nursing care resume Results: The results of the study showed that all five patients had the same chief complaint of acute pain. Priority nursing diagnoses in Patients I-V were acute pain related to physical injury agents as evidenced in five patients who complained of pain in the 4-6 range. Nursing interventions carried out were pain management and lemon aromatherapy humidifier. The nursing implementation carried out was a comprehensive pain assessment, analgesic treatment and a lemon aromatherapy humidifier. The results of the nursing evaluation in the five patients showed a decrease in the pain scale after the lemon aromatherapy humidifier was carried out in patients with acute post-laparotomy pain problems. The patient experienced a pain reduction of 2-3 scales. Recommendation: The results of this nursing care can be used as a reference for the preparation of SOPs for handling hyperthermia using the lemon aromatherapy humidifier method
