Abstract

Background: The highest incidence of cancer for women in Indonesia is breast cancer. There are several treatments for breast cancer, one of which is chemotherapy. The most common psychological side effect of chemotherapy is anxiety. One of the management of anxiety is supportive group therapy. Supportive group therapy is able to provide space and opportunity for individuals, to freely convey their emotions and feelings to other group members, and get feedback from group members, thus reducing anxiety. Objective: to explain nursing care providing supportive group therapy, in breast cancer patients with anxiety at Prof. Dr. Margono Soekarjo Purwokerto Hospital Methods: The research method is descriptive with a case study approach. The case study subjects that will be studied are 5 breast cancer patients, with anxiety. The tools in this study were the nursing care format, the Nursing Kit, the observation sheet for signs of anxiety and (SAP) for supportive group therapy. Presentation of data that the author does by drawing conclusions based on subjective and objective data, which is presented in the documentation method and nursing care resume. Results: The results of the study showed that all five patients had the same chief complaint of anxiety. Priority nursing diagnoses in Patients I-V were anxiety as evidenced in the five patients with the results of the assessment that the client felt confused, worried, restless, tense, and had poor sleep patterns. The nursing interventions carried out were the act of trusting relationships, discussing anxiety, supportive group therapy. The nursing implementation carried out is the act of trusting relationships, discussing anxiety, supportive group therapy. The results of the evaluation showed that the anxiety problem was resolved. The results of the nursing evaluation in Patients I-V, showed a decrease in anxiety. The results of providing supportive group therapy in breast cancer patients with anxiety at Prof. Dr. Margono Soekarjo Purwokerto showed a decrease in 3-4 signs of anxiety symptoms.
