Abstract

Background, Diabetes Mellitus is one of the identical health problems characterized by an increase in blood sugar levels due to impaired secretions, disturbances in insulin production or even problems in both. Control of diabetes mellitus can be done by efforts to change the health behavior of people with diabetes mellitus through the perception of good health. One of the most widely applied theories of health behavior change is Health Belief Models. Purpose, Analyze the results of case studies regarding the perception of DM sufferers with an approach using the Health Belief Model (HBM) theory. Method, This study uses a descriptive method by analyzing the perception of diabetic mellitus in each domain of health belief models theory. Result, The results showed that 53.3% of people with diabetes mellitus had a poor level of health belief model. In the Perceived Susceptibility domain in the bad category as many as 12 respondents (53.3%), the Perceived Severity domain in the bad category 11 respondents (54.0%), the Perceived Benefits domain in the bad category 10 respondents (51.1%), the Perceived Barriers domain in the good category as many as 14 respondents (56.2%) and the cues to action domain in the good category as many as 16 respondents (70.8%) Recommendation, Researchers are expected to conduct health belief model research with qualitative methods so that deeper perception data can be obtained for each domain of health belief model.
