Abstract
Background: The usefulness of breastmilk has been well known, but there is still great tendency of mothers not to breastfeed. Breastfeeding problem in Indonesia occur due to various factors, such as the baby, the mother, and the environment that may affect the increase of prolactin hormone and the volume of milk. Since 3 months ago there have been 16 mothers giving birth in the private midwifery clinic of Midwife Djumi Widarti. Four of them succeeded to breastfeed within the first hour. The others did not succeed in breastfeedingit because of somer factors. Therefore, to prevent and overcome the breastfeeding problem, it is possible to do an intervention. It is the combined woolwich and endorphine massage by using olive oil. This is to increase prolactin and oxytocin reflex. Objective: To know the effectiveness of olive oil usage in the combined woolwich and endorphin massage towards the breastmilk flow of Mrs. F, a postpartum mother in private midwifery clinic of Midwife Djumi Widarti at Sampang, Sempor, Kebumen. Method: Data collection techniques is descriptive qualitative with case study approach. Data processing was done through data reduction, data presentation, and verification. The drawing conclusion in this paper is based on the presentation of data. Result: The combined woolwich and endorphin massage using olive oil could increase the breastfeeding frequency of Mrs. F from day to day. On the first day of the massage, the milk did not run out, but after having 3 times massages, the volume of milk came out more and more. It is true that the use of olive oil in massage is able to keep skin soft, supple and the mother was more relaxed. Conclusions: The combined woolwich and endorphine massage using olive oil
