Abstract
Background, Hypertension is an increase in systolic and diastolic blood pressure of more than 140/90 mmHg. Hypertension is often referred to as the silent killer. One of the determining factors for the success of therapy in hypertensive patients is adherence to taking antihypertensive drugs. Research purposes, This study aims to determine the correlation between the level of adherence to drug use and the success of therapy for hypertension patients at the outpatient Instalation at PKU Muhammadiyah Sruweng Hospital Research methods, This research is non experimental observational with a crosssectional design. Sampling by purposive sampling with the number of respondents 70 patients. The research instrument used was the MMAS-8 questionnaire and statistically analyzed using the Spearman’rho test. Research results, The results showed that the level of adherence to the use of antihypertensive drugs was in the high category 52,9%, moderate 38,6%, and low 8,6%. Patients who achieved therapeutic success were 74.3% and did not achieve therapeutic success as much as 25,7%. The results of the analysis showed thar there was a significant relationship between medication adherence and therapeutic success in hypertensive patients with a p-value of 0,000 < 0,005. Conclusion, Compliance with the use of antihypertensive drugs in the outpatient Instalation at PKU Muhammadiyah Sruweng Hospital has a high level of compliance. There is a significant relationship between the level of adherence to the success of therapy in hypertensive patients. Recommendation, Further research is needed regarding the factors influencing drug use adherence to the outcome therapy for hypertension patients, more sample and conducting interviews.
