Abstract

Background: Currently, in Kebumen Regency, there are 394,648 people who have entered pre-elderly (age 45 – 59 years). Then, the number of elderly (over 60) is 167,743 people (BPS Kabupaten Kebumen, 2021). The number of elderly (over 60) in Kajoran Village is 89 elderly. The most common health problems in the elderly in Kajoran Village are degenerative diseases due to the aging process, the results of communication with 10 elderly people, 7 of whom have sleep disorders. Ways that can be used to overcome sleep quality problems with non-pharmacological therapies, one of which is back massage. General Objective: To analyze gerontic nursing care with nursing problems with sleep pattern disorders with the application of complementary back massage in Kajoran Village Methods: This study uses a descriptive method with a case study approach. This type of case report uses nursing care studies. To conduct a study of nursing care, researchers collect data by means of patient assessment, nursing diagnosis enforcement, nursing planning, nursing implementation and nursing evaluation Nursing Care Results: After conducting the assessment, the data showed that respondents said they had difficulty sleeping, felt dissatisfied with sleep, and felt sleepy during the day, then the main nursing problem was raised sleep pattern disorders (D.0055). To overcome these nursing problems, an intervention was enforced with SLKI Sleep Patterns (L.05045) and SIKI Massage Therapy (08251) with the main action being to do back messages. The implementation was carried out for 2 weeks with a total of 4 meetings with the main action being giving back messages with the results after being given a back message as many as 4 meetings it was found that the five respondents experienced a decrease in the PSQI (Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index) value from the initial assessment results > 5 and after implementation to be <5. Conclusion: From the results of nursing care for the five patients, it was found that giving back messages was effective in reducing nursing problems with sleep pattern disorders
