Abstract

Background: Sectio caesarea is a surgical procedure to give birth to a fetus by opening the abdominal wall and uterine or vaginal walls or a hysterotomy to deliver the fetus from inside the uterus. The incision in the abdominal wall and uterus to give birth to the baby and the placenta will cause pain (superficial pain) due to the disconnection of nerve fibers and also pressure due to sutures. One of the non-pharmacological therapies that can be used is Benson relaxation. Benson relaxation is the development of a respiratory relaxation response method by involving the patient's belief factor that can create an internal environment so that it can help patients achieve higher health and welfare conditions. General Objective: To explain nursing care in postoperative sectio caesarea patients with the main nursing problem of acute pain by providing Benson relaxation techniques to reduce pain levels in postoperative sectio caesarea patients in the Rahma Room of PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital. Nursing Care Results: The results of the nursing evaluation in post SC patients showed that Benson relaxation therapy was effective in reducing acute pain and was resolved by decreasing the pain scale to a mild scale (1-3). Recommendation: For further researchers, it is hoped that they can examine the use of non-pharmacological therapy for Benson relaxation to reduce acute pain in hypertension.
