Abstract
Background Diabetes mellitus is serious health problem in the world and Indonesia because the prevalence diabetes mellitus continues to increase every year. The result of Riskesdas propotion diabetes melitus increased from 5,7% in 2007, 6,9% in 2013, and became 8,5% in 2018. One of the problems that occur in families have family members suffering from diabetes mellitus is ineffective health care. Purpose Explains nursing care in diabetes mellitus families with ineffective health care nursing problems for diabetes mellitus patiens in Kalibeji village working area Puskesmas Sempor. Method This scientific paper study is descriptive, the number of samples is 5 familes. The instrument used is family assessment format, diabetes mellitus knowledgw, the intervention is to provide health education for 2 times, the knowledge questionnaire and GDS checks are carried out before the intervention and 2 weeks after the intervention. Result The nursing problem that health care is not effective. Nursing actions taken provide health education with booklet media. Evaluation results after 2 weeks of education, average family knowledge about diabetes mellitus increase from 51,6% to 73,6% and average blood sugar levels decrease from 279 mg/dL to 177 mg/dL. Recommendation Nurse should able apply health education using booklet media to health problem ineffective health care because the results of health education management increase knowledge.
