Abstract
Background: Laparotomy is abdominal surgery to open the lining of the stomach. Laparotomy surgery can cause several problems including acute postoperative pain; therefore, it is necessary for nurses to participate in reducing the patient's problems, including using deep breathing relaxation therapy and Benson therapy. Purpose: to provide nursing care by providing deep breathing relaxation techniques and Benson therapy in Post Laparatomi patients with acute pain nursing problems at Intensive Care Unit (ICU) room of Prof. Dr. Margono. Soekarjo Purwokerto Hospital. Methods: The research method is descriptive with a case study approach. The case study subjects that will be studied are 5 post laparotomy with the main nursing problem of acute pain. The tools in this study were nursing care formats, Nursing Kits, observation sheets for acute pain symptoms and SOPs for deep breathing relaxation therapy and Benson therapy. Presentation of data that the author does by drawing conclusions based on subjective and objective data, which is presented in the documentation method and nursing care resume Results: The results of the study showed that all five patients had the same chief complaint of acute pain. Priority nursing diagnoses in Patients I-V were acute pain related to physical injur y agents as evidenced in five patients who complained of pain in the 6-7 range. Nursing interventions carried out were pain management, deep breathing relaxation therapy and Benson therapy. The nursing implementation carried out is a comprehensive pain assessment, analgesic care, deep breathing relaxation therapy and Benson therapy. The results of the nursing evaluation on the five patients showed that the pain nursing problem was resolved with an indication of a decrease in the pain scale. The results of the action innovation analysis showed a decrease in pain scale after deep breathing relaxation therapy and Benson therapy were carried out in patients with acute post-laparotomy pain problems. Patients experienced a decrease in pain 1-3 scales.
