Abstract
Background: Cervical cancer is cancer that begins in the cervix, which is the area of the female reproductive system which is the entrance to the uterus, which is between the uterus and the genital opening (vagina). The development of cervical cancer is intertwined gradually. Starting from some normal cells change, become pre-carcinogenic cells, after which they grow into malignant cells. Changes in this negative self-concept will occur in cervical cancer sufferers, because of changes in sexual function, these problems must be addressed as soon as possible, because it will cause a decrease in self-image, which results in a decrease in self-esteem. Decreased self-esteem and loneliness, coupled with decreased bodily functions can lead to social isolation, and loss of interaction with others. The number of cancer patients, especially cervical cancer, requires psychological care and therapy during treatment, so nurses can apply independent nursing interventions to meet the psychological therapy needs of cancer patients, namely by practicing positive thinking therapy to help increase patient self-esteem. Objectives: To analyze nursing care in cervical cancer patients, with situational low self-esteem nursing problems at Prof.. Dr. Margono Soekarjo Purwokerto Hospital. Results: The results of a study of patients with situational low self-esteem in patients with cervical cancer, after being given positive thinking exercises, the results showed that the five respondents experienced an increase in the RSES value (Rosenberg Self Esteem Scale) > 15. Recommendation: Future researchers are expected to be able to examine the use of other nonpharmacological therapies, namely to overcome the problem of situational low self-esteem in cervical cancer patients.
