Abstract

Background : Typhoid fever is an infectious disease caused by Salmonella typhi bacteria. A lot of doctors use antibiotics carelessly and indiscriminately, which breeds resistance. According to the WHO, the types and dosages of medications used during hospitalization at PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital should be assessed quantitatively using ATC/DDD and DU90% method. Research Objective : To estimate the use of antibiotics in the PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital's inpatient installation for the months of January into June 2020 by comparing the use of antibiotics with the DU90% method and the ATC/DDD method. Research Methods : This study was conducted using a non-experimental retrospective study. The ATC/DDD and DU90% methods were used to descriptively analyze data on antibiotic use. There were as many as 100 samples taken. Result : The highest quantitative evaluation value of DDD/100 patient-days was Ceftriaxone with a total of 52.14 DDD/100 patient-days and the lowest value of DDD/100 patient-days was Ampicillin with a total of 3.16 DDD/100 patient-days. The total antibiotics used were 75.31 DDD/100 patient-days. The use of antibiotics that fall into the DU90% segment are Ceftriaxone (69.23%) and Cefotaxime (12.97%). While antibiotics that fall into the 10% segment are Cefixime (9.14%), Ciprofloxacin (4.44%), and Ampicillin (4.19). Conclusion : Ceftriaxone had the highest DDD/100 patient-days value with a total of 52.14 DDD/100 patient-days, and ampicillin had the lowest value with a total of 3.16 DDD/100 patient-days. Ceftriaxone (69.23%) and Cefotaxime (12.97%) are two antibiotics that belong in the DU90% segment. Cefixime (9.14%), Ciprofloxacin (4.44%), and Ampicillin are included in the 10% segment (4.19). Recommendation : The hospital should make changes to the accuracy and thoroughness of the data entered into medical records.
