Abstract
Background: the prevalence of renal failure in Indonesia reached 400,000 million people, but not all patients handle by medical personnel, approximately 25,000 new patiens can be treated, meaning that there are 80% of patients who did not receive treatment with either. Patients with cronic renal failure undergoing hemodialysis should be obedient.. Non obedience may lead to failure of therapy that can reduce the quality of life of their life. Objective: To determine corelation between the obedience to undergo hemodialysis therapy and the quality of life of chronic renal failure patients at Dr. Sudirman State Hospital of Kebumen. Methods: This study used correlational description with cross-sectional approach. The samples were 88 respondents taken by total sampling technique. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis and chi-square test for bivariate analysis. Results: Most respondents (70.5%) were obedient, and had poor quality of life category (63.6%). There was corelation between the obedience to undergo hemodialysis therapy and the quality of life of chronic renal failure patients at Dr. Sudirman State Hospital of Kebumen indicated by p-value 0.002(<0,05). The more obedient the more chronic renal failure patients undergoing hemodialysis therapy to have good quality of life.
