Abstract
Background : Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease caused by absolute insulin deficiency or relative Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease caused by absolute insulin deficiency or relative insulin deficiency due to impaired insulin secretion and action. Drug interactions are changes in the effect of a drug due to the use of other drugs (drug interactions with drugs) or by food, traditional medicines and other chemical compounds where the state of these substances affects drug activity, namely increasing or decreasing its effects, or producing new unwanted or planned effects. Research purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine and evaluate drug interactions of diabetes mellitus in inpatients at PKU Muhammadiyah Hospital Gombong. Research Methods: Non-experimental descriptive research with data collection using a retrospective design. By comparing drug interactions with Medscape. Research Results : The results of this study showed drug interactions in diabetes mellitus patients from 70 patients, as many as 55 patients (78.57%) who had potential drug interactions and patients without drug interactions as many as 15 patients (21.43%). The severity of drug interactions was monitored closely/moderately as many as 87 interactions (59.18%) the most used in the combination of candesartan with amlodipine as many as 8 interactions, minor as many as 47 interactions (31.97%) the most being used in combination with azithromicyn with ondansetron as many as 6 interactions, serious/major as many as 13 interactions (8.84%) the most used the combination of dexamethasone with metformin as many as 12 interactions and the pharmacodynamic interaction mechanism as many as 113 interactions (76.87%) the most used the combination of dexamethasone with metformin as many as 12 interactions, Unknown as many as 18 interactions (12.24%) which was the most widely used combination of azithromicyn with ondansetron as many as 6 interactions and pharmacokinetics as many as 16 interactions (10.88%) the most widely used combination of dexamethasone with ondansetron as many as 5 interactions. Conclusion : There are drug interactions in patients with diabetes mellitus at PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital. Recommendation : For further researchers to be able to examine the clinical effects of patients as a result of drug interactions.
