Abstract

Background : The purpose of introducing ethnobotany to the community is to increase public knowledge about plants that can be utilized and have potential as drugs, so that they can improve public health and community welfare if medicinal products from these plants can be produced and packaged properly for sale. Research Objectives: To find out which plants are used and parts of plants are used as medicinal ingredients and how to consume medicinal plants in Bonorowo District, Kebumen Regency Research Methods: The research was conducted using survey techniques and semi-structured interviews with a sample of 100 respondents from the villages of Bonorowo, Tlogorejo, Bonjoklor, Bonjokidul, and Rowosari in the district of Bonorowo. Data analysis was carried out in a qualitative descriptive way. The data that has been obtained through interviews are grouped based on the name of the medicinal plant, the part used, processing method, efficacy and how to obtain the medicinal plant. Research Results: Based on the results of the study, it is known that there are 31 families consisting of 53 plant species. The most widely used plants by the people of Bonorowo District are Zingiberaceae family with a total of 10 plant species (18.5%), the most widely used part is leaves (41.5%), processed by boiling (66.0%), use with drinking (66.0 %). Conclusion : There are 31 families consisting of 53 species of plants, the most widely used plants by the people of Bonorowo District are the Zingiberaceae family, the most widely used part is the leaves, processed by boiling, and the method of use is drinking. Recommendation: Based on the results of the research, it is necessary to make consistent efforts to protect the local community's knowledge about medicinal plants, to avoid the extinction of traditions from generation to generation.
