Abstract
Background, The level of adherence to the use of hypertension drugs is still a serious problem for sufferers, adherence to drug use is related to the success of therapy where the lower the level of adherence, the success of therapy will be more difficult to achieve. Research Objectives, The aim of the study was to determine the relationship between the level of adherence to drug use and the success of therapy in hypertensive patients at PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital. Research Methods, The research method is a cross-sectional analytical descriptive design. Samples were taken by purposive sampling technique obtained 80 hypertensive patients. Data were processed using SPSS-25 and analyzed by Spearman Rho test. Reaearch Result, The results of the analysis of the compliance level of hypertensive patients in the internal medicine polyclinic of PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital with a high category of 33 patients (41.3%), a moderate level of adherence as many as 26 patients (32.5%), and patients with a low level of adherence as many as 21 patients. (26.3%). The results showed that most of the patients achieved the blood pressure target according to JNC 8 as many as 50 patients (62.5%), and patients who did not reach the JNC 8 target were as many as 30 patients (37.5%). Conclusion, There is a relationship between the level of adherence to drug use and the success of therapy in hypertensive patients at PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital with a p value of 0.000 (p <0.05). Recommendation: It is necessary to provide information and education by pharmacists to improve compliance with hypertension drug use.
