Abstract

Background: Lips are one of the more sensitive parts of the face, the moisture turns dry and cracked when the air conditions are too hot or too cold. Lip cream is one of the lip color preparations that make lips more shiny. Young teak leaves (Tectona grandis) can be used as natural dyes because they contain anthocyanin dyes that can give red, purple, and dark red colors, and there are tannin compounds that can give brown color. Objective: Making Lip Cream preparations with natural teak leaf dye (Tectona grandis) that can be used by the public as an alternative to lip dye cosmetics that are safer to use. Methods: This research is an experimental laboratory research by making 2 extracts of teak (Tectona grandis) leaves using 2 extraction methods, namely maceration and juicer methods. The extract was tested by tube and then made lip cream preparations and tested for evaluation of the preparations, then compared the color stability. Results: The results showed that the best teak leaf lip cream formulation was the most preferred formula 2 (7% maceration extract) and the most preferred formula 8 (7% juicer extract) with the results of the test parameters that met the standards. Statistical analysis showed that p value > 0.05 showed that the storage time had no effect on the color stability of the lip cream preparation. Conclusion: Teak leaf lip cream preparations, both using macerated extract and using juicer extract, both showed a stable color at 14 days of storage. Suggestion: It needs to be done by adding different acids, using different extraction methods, and varying the concentration of different extracts, as well as adding corrigen odoris.
