Abstract
Background: Chronic renal failure is a progressive disorder of renal function in the nephrons that cannot return to normal, resulting in metabolic failure. Chronic renal failure can be treated by using hemodialysis therapy. The therapy is needed to improve spiritual well-being and quality of life in patients with chronic kidney failure. Objectives: To determine the relationship between spiritual well-being and quality of life in patients with chronic kidney failure in the hemodialysis room at PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital. Methods: This study used a correlational quantitative method with a cross-sectional approach. The sample was taken by consecutive sampling technique and obtained a sample of 71 respondents. Data collection using the Spiritual Well Being Scale and WHO-QoL questionnaires. Data analysis using univariate and bivariate analysis using chi square test. Results: The results of this study were 4 (5.6%) respondents with low spiritual well-being, 19 (26.8%) respondents with moderate spiritual well-being and 48 (67.6%) respondents with high spiritual well-being. A total of 54 (76.1%) respondents with good quality of life and 17 (23.9%) respondents with poor quality of life. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between spiritual well-being and quality of life in patients with chronic kidney failure in the Hemodialysis Room of PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital, with p-value (0.000) (<0.05). Recommendation: Future researchers are expected to be able to examine the factors that are thought to affect the quality of life in patients with chronic kidney failure.
