Abstract

Background: Prolonged anxiety triggers the emergence of gastritis because it can reduce blood flow to the gastric wall mucosa, resulting in an increase in gastric wall permeability. Cognitive behavioral therapy has been proven to be effective in increasing psychological distress which can reduce anxiety. Purposes: This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the cognitive behavioral therapy program on the level of anxiety in gastritis patients in the Adipala 1 Public Health Center inpatient room. Methods: Quasi-experimental research method with a pretest and posttest approach without control group design. The study population of gastritis patients who were hospitalized as many as 20 people were taken as research samples with a total sampling technique. Data analysis using statistical test pair t test. Result: The anxiety level of gastritis patients in the Adipala 1 Public Health Center inpatient room before cognitive behavior therapy was mostly in the moderate, severe and mild categories. The anxiety level of gastritis patients in the Adipala 1 Public Health Center inpatient room after cognitive behavior therapy was mostly moderate and mild. The results of the pair t test obtained a significance value of 0.00 which is smaller than = 0.05, which means that cognitive behavior therapy is effective in reducing social anxiety in gastritis patients in the Adipala 1 Public Health Center inpatient room. Conclusion: Cognitive behavior therapy is effective in reducing social anxiety in gastritis patients in the Adipala 1 Public Health Center inpatient room
