Abstract

Background: Gastritis is an inflammation of the gastric mucosa that is acute and chronic. Gastritis usually occurs when eating too many spicy and sour foods and irregular eating patterns, stress and smoking habits can also cause gastritis. Objective: to find out the factors related to gastritis symptoms in 8th semester students of Muhammadiyah University of Gombong Methods: The research method is correlational with a cross-sectional approach. The population to be taken in this study is 194 students. The author took data from 99 students who were taken by simple random sampling. The instrument or measuring instrument used in this study is a questionnaire. Data were analyzed descriptively and correlatively. Result : Students do not take gastritis medication regularly (76.8%). There is a relationship between stress level and gastritis symptoms in 8th semester students of Muhammadiyah University of Gombong (p=0.045). There is a relationship between diet and gastritis symptoms in 8th semester students of Muhammadiyah University of Gombong (p=0.003). There was no relationship between smoking habit and gastritis symptoms in 8th semester students of Muhammadiyah University of Gombong (p = 0.309). Recommendation: It is hoped that further researchers will increase the number of respondents so that they better describe the gastritis factors and can develop the characteristics of the respondents being studied.
