Abstract
Background: Hypertension is an increased in systolic and diastolic blood pressure consistently above 140/190 mmHg. Complications of hypertension in the form of stroke, coronary heart disease, and kidney failure. Symptoms in hypertensive patients include headache, epistaxis, dizziness, and tinnitus. Objectives: This study aims to determine the effect of combination therapy with progressive muscle relaxation techniques and warm compresses in hypertensive patients. Methods: This study used the Quasi Experiment method used a quantitative approach Two Group Time Series Design research design. This design used two groups of hypertension respondents which are the control group and the experimental group before and after being given a combination therapy of progressive muscle relaxation techniques and warm compresses. Results: The experimental group consisted of 21 respondents (84.0%), mild pain 4 respondents (16.0%) and after therapy the number of respondents who experienced mild pain was 25 respondents (100.0%). Respondents who experienced moderate pain were 21 respondents (84.0%), after being given therapy the results were no respondents who experienced moderate pain. Before being given progressive muscle combination therapy and warm compresses, the experimental group and the control group had different average levels of pain. Conclusion: There is an effect of progressive muscle combination therapy and warm compresses on reducing headache intensity in hypertensive patients in the working area of Tambak 1 Public Health Center, with a p value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). Recommendation: Future researchers are expected to be able to examine the factors that affect the quality of life in hypertensive patients
