Abstract
Background : Adherence to taking antiretroviral (ARV) drugs is a key factor to suppress the virus optimally. Family support is crucial to the continuity of treatment because the family is the closest person to HIV/AIDS sufferers who are expected to motivate and supervise the administration of ARV drugs when the patient's morale drops. Objective: To determine the relationship between family support and adherence to ARV medication in HIV/AIDS patients at the Cendrawasih Clinic, RSUD Dr. Sudirman Kebumen. Methods: This study is a quantitative study with the type of correlation method. The population in this study was seen from the number of patient visits to the Cendrawasih Clinic, RSUD dr. Soedirman Kebumen in the second semester of 2020 amounted to 2,220 patients. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling with a total of 192 respondents. The research instrument was a family support questionnaire sheet and the Morinsky Medication Adherence Scale (MMAS) standard questionnaire. Data were analyzed by univariate (descriptive) and chi square statistical test. Results: There is a significant relationship between family support and adherence to taking ARV drugs with the result value (p = 0.000 < 0.05)
