Abstract

Background: The arrival of smartphones with very rapid technological growth will certainly have certain effects on users, both positive and negative consequences given primarily to the development of children as smartphone users. Giving smartphones very early to children has an influence on child development, one of which is the pattern of social interaction. Objective: to determine the relationship between smartphone use and social interaction in school-age children at SDN 1 Kutowinangun Methods: The research method is correlational with a cross-sectional approach. The authors take data from 63 samples of children taken by simple random sampling. Instrument in the form of a questionnaire. Data were analyzed descriptively and correlationally. Results: School-age children with smartphone use are in the moderate category (68.3%). School-age children with sufficient social interaction are in the moderate category (63.5%). There is a relationship between smartphone use and social interaction among school-age children at SDN 1 Kutowinangun (p=0.000). Recommendation: It is expected to consider other variables that influence the aspect of social interaction more and add additional power to make it clearer.
