Abstract

Background: Learning motivation is a mental force that drives the learning process. Learning motivation is usually influenced by internal factors and external factors. These internal factors exist in the children themself while external factors include the family, school, and community environment. In this case, their parents have an important role in raising children at home so that it can affect children's learning motivation. Objectives: This study aims to determine the correlation between parenting patterns and learning motivation of children aged 10-12 years old in Kalirejo Village, Kebumen District. Methods: The present study is quantitative correlation research with cross sectional approach. The research was conducted in June-July 2022. The samples consisted of 61 respondents taken by random sampling technique using the Slovin formula. The research instrument used a questionnaire. Data were analyzed using Kendall tau test. Results: The majority of parenting styles in Kalirejo Village, Kebumen District, belong to the category of democratic parenting as many as 37 children (60.7%). The majority of children's learning motivation is in good category as many as 38 children (62.3%). There is a significant correlation between parenting styles and learning motivation of children aged 10-12 years in Kalirejo Village, Kebumen District with p-value = 0.000 < 0.005, the coefficient value of 0,708 means that it has a strong correlation. Conclusion: There is significant correlation between parenting patterns and learning motivation of children aged 10-12 years old in Kalirejo Village, Kebumen District. Recommendations: For further researchers, they can conduct research on other factors related to learning motivation.
