Abstract

Background: HIV is a type of virus that infects white blood cells that causes a decrease in the human body's immunity while AIS is an indication that appears due to decreased body immunity caused by infection by HIV. Data from the Central Java office 2020 shows that there are 190 cases of HIV sufferers in Kebumen including level 2 in Central Java, while AIDS in Kebumen is 110 cases, including level 1 in Central Java. Lack of knowledge and attitudes of students can affect the prevention of HIV/AIDS. Objective: To determine the correlation between knowledge level with HIV/AIDS prevention and management attitude of the first-year students of Universitas Muhammadiyah Gombong. Methods: This study uses a descriptive correlational research method with a crosssectional approach. The sample technique used is purposive sampling of 79 firstyear students for the 2021/2022 academic year at Universitas Muhammadiyah Gombong. Results: There was significant correlation between knowledge level with HIV/AIDS prevention and management attitude of the first-year students of Universitas Muhammadiyah Gombong with p value = 0.022 <0.05. Conclusion: There is significant correlation between knowledge level with the attitude of prevention and management of HIV/AIDS. Recommendation: Future research may explore the influence and factors related to the level of knowledge and prevention of HIV/AIDS.
