Abstract

Background: Caring is an important part of the nursing process. The patient's family often experiences this problem including patient visit schedule, environment, hospital rules and regulations, emotional changes, family status, and healthcare providers' attitude when they give a piece of information to the patients and patients’ family. Nurses should have good behavior when they give nursing care to the patient feel the convenience and the level of anxiety can decrease. Purpose: To determine the correlation between the caring behavior of nurses and the anxiety level of patients’ families in the ICU room at PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital. Method: This study was a quantitative method with a cross-sectional design. A number of thirty-two respondents joined this study and they were selected by probability sampling technique. Results: Caring behavior of nurses was most in the good category (62.5%). The anxiety level of the patient's family was in the category of moderate level (43.7%). Conclusion: Caring behavior of nurses and the anxiety level of the patient's family had a significant correlation (p-value = 0.000 (<0.05). Recommendation: Further researchers hope can use different variables regarding factors that influence nurses ' caring behavior.
