Abstract

Background : The incidence of burn injuries in the community is still high. In Indonesia, the number of cases has increased from 0.6% to 1.3% or about 3 million cases per Indonesian population. Proper first treatment of burn injuries is very important and good knowledge of the community about first aid for burn injuries can minimize the severity of burn victims. Objectives: To find out overview of community knowledge in handling emergency pre-hospital burn injuries in Kritig, Petanahan. Methods: This study used a quantitative descriptive research. The population of this research is all residents in Kritig with totaling 2094 people . Sampling used random sampling technique as many as 96 respondents . Data analysis of data used univariate analysis. Results: Respondent’s knowledge about the first treatment of burn injuries is less than 38 respondents (39.6%) . Respondent’s knowledge about the transfer of patients with burn injuries is less than 41 respondents (42.7 %) Conclusion : The respondent 's knowledge about the first treatment of burns and the transfer of patients with burns is included in the poor category. Recommendations for further researchers : Future research is expected to show the true opinion of respondents, because there are differences in thoughts, assumptions and different understandings of each respondent
